Rock Creek Disabled Outdoors Looking for Volunteers for the Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities October 3rd-10th
Thursday, October 1st, 2026 -- 11:00 AM
Rock Creek Disabled Outdoors is looking for volunteers for the hunt for hunters with disabilities.
The 28th Annual Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities, October 3rd-10th, is more than a hunting event. It takes an entire team of volunteers, supporters, guides, cooks, helpers, and friends to make this experience possible for our hunters. Whether you can spend the entire week with them or can only give them a few hours, your time makes a difference.
Here are some of the areas where we need help:
Hunting Guides:
Our guides are paired with hunters and help make their hunting experience possible. Guides assist hunters with transportation to and from the blind, getting situated, spotting deer, firearm setup as needed, safety, tracking, retrieval, and field dressing.
Most importantly, guides provide companionship, encouragement, and camaraderie throughout the hunt. If you're a licensed hunter who enjoys sharing the outdoors with others, we'd love to have you join us.
Kitchen Help
It takes a lot of food to keep our hunters and volunteers fueled throughout the event! Kitchen volunteers help with food preparation, serving meals, keeping things organized, and helping with cleanup. You don't have to be a chef, just bring a willingness to help and a smile!
Deer Skinning and Quartering
When the hunters return with a successful harvest, the work isn't over! We need volunteers in the evenings to assist with skinning and quartering deer. If you have experience with this or are comfortable learning, we'd appreciate your help. It's an important part of making sure our hunters' harvests are properly taken care of.
Raffle Ticket Sellers
Our raffles help support the event, and we're always looking for friendly faces willing to help sell tickets.
Volunteers may help with:
- Bucket raffles
- 50/50 raffles
- Walk-around raffles
And other fundraising activities throughout the event. If you're outgoing, enjoy talking with people, and don't mind making your way around the crowd, this is a great way to help!
Pre-Hunt Setup (Friday Before the Hunt)
Before our hunters arrive, there is plenty to do! Volunteers help get the grounds, facilities, hunting areas, meals, tables, supplies, and other event areas ready to go. Many hands make light work, and getting everything ready beforehand helps us give our hunters the experience they deserve.
Post-Hunt Cleanup (Sunday Following the Hunt)
When the hunt is over, we need a crew to help us put everything back in order. Cleanup may include taking down equipment, cleaning event areas, putting away supplies, organizing materials, and helping leave the grounds ready for the next event.
Remember, there’s a place for you here. You don’t have to be a hunter. You don’t have to know everything about hunting. And you don’t have to commit to the entire event. If you have a few hours, a day, or the whole week to give, we can use your help.
What matters most is your willingness to pitch in and help make an incredible experience possible for hunters with disabilities. Come volunteer. Meet some great people. Make some amazing memories. Be part of something bigger than yourself. Interested in volunteering?
