Loyal School District and School Board Release Statement Regarding Highway 98 Billboard

The Loyal School District and the Loyal School Board have released a statement regarding a billboard on Highway 98.

The statement reads: “The School District of Loyal and the Loyal Board of Education is not involved or affiliated with the outside party/group that utilized the billboard on Elm Drive/Hwy 98 to advertise opposing consolidation with the School District of Greenwood."

"The School District DID NOT authorize or contribute any payment to this billboard advertisement as it may appear to the public with the use of our school signage and logo by the outside group."

"Any organization, whether advocating for or in opposition to a referendum question, must clearly identify themselves as independent of the School District and may not, under any circumstances, use School District logos, mascots, slogans, or other such items that are protected by or regularly used and identified with the School District per District Policy 9770.”

“The School District of Loyal is not permitted to spend public funds on election related advocacy and cannot publicly advertise for or against a referendum. The school district can only deliver information. Any information about consolidation needs to be neutral by the school district.”
