Wisconsin Rapids Man Arrested After Crash Involving an Amish Buggy

(Juliana Tornabene, WSAW) The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Wisconsin Rapids man after a crash involving an Amish buggy crash injured multiple children Thursday.

According to Juliana Tornabene with WSAW, the crash happened just before 3:45 p.m. Thursday on County Highway O, in the Town of Buffalo. Two buggies were heading westbound on County Highway O when the lead buggy tried to turn onto 12th Avenue and was hit by a vehicle.

Four children in the buggy were hurt. On Friday, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a fifth child was taken to a hospital to be evaluated. As of Friday, one child is still hospitalized and is expected to be released.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the car that hit the buggy, John Sebbas, was arrested and faces a charge of felony hit-and-run causing great bodily harm. Sebbas, 22, was booked into the Marquette County Jail.

Online court records show he is scheduled to have a bail/bond hearing Friday afternoon. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this crash.
