Marathon County Health Department Identifies No Additional Measles Cases

(Taylor Hughes, WSAW) The Marathon County Health Department said Friday that no additional measles cases have been identified in the county following the case confirmed earlier this week.

According to Taylor Hughes with WSAW, the health department said it is not aware of public exposure locations linked to the confirmed case. Public health staff continue to monitor the situation.

The update follows confirmation this week of a measles case in a Marathon County resident who contracted the virus while traveling outside Wisconsin. The Marathon County Health Department and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services said the infection is unrelated to an ongoing outbreak in southwest Wisconsin.

Officials said there was no known public exposure in the community at that time. The individual is isolating while public health staff conduct contact tracing and routine follow-up investigations.
