STATE PATROL OUT IN FULL FORCE
Friday, April 17th, 2009 -- 11:43 AM
People driving through Neillsville Friday morning noticed a lot of State Troopers on USH 10.We talked with Sgt. Jerry Voight of the State Patrol?s Regional Office in Eau Claire.
He said he didn?t have specific information about the apparent operation, saying the Sgt. who set it up is out of the office today, but it appears to be targeting trucks and trailers attending the Central Wisconsin Horse Sale at the Clark County Fairgrounds.
Voight says the inspectors could be here because of specific complaints and will be checking drivers status and equipment violations.
Anecdotally, many haulers help the Amish bring their horses to sales. Voight says they may not realize they need special authority to do ?for hire? hauling.
The Horse Sale runs through Saturday.
