The Highground Veterans Memorial Holding CAMO Event Regarding the Holocaust

Join The Highground for an unforgettable presentation capturing an extraordinary story of resilience, survival and historical discovery. 

The Highground invites the public to a powerful presentation uncovering a hidden history of World War II resistance. Attendees will follow the remarkable journey of a grandson who pieced together his grandmother’s secret courageous defiance against the Nazi regime.

This inspiring event brings history to life and honors the enduring power of the human spirit.  Erez Cohen, a family historian and director of Hillel at the University of Illinois, travelled to Krakow, Poland in November 2019 in search of answers about his grandmother’s Holocaust story.

He returned with the heroic story of the Krakow Jewish Resistance and other incredible finds. This unique and forgotten story deals with the horrific progression of the Holocaust and how its aftermath affected the lives of survivors and their kin.

Cohen has since shared the story with Jewish communities across the United States as well as law enforcement authorities, historical societies and more. Attendees will also be able to visit the “Hidden Voices of the Holocaust” exhibition on display in the Welcome Center

This exhibition includes multiple traveling exhibits from Holocaust museums and education centers across the United States. Nazi party memorabilia items from The Highground’s collection and other unique displays focusing on this dark chapter of human history will also be on display.

The presentation, part of The Highground’s CAMO (Community and Military Outreach) program, will take place at 6pm on Thursday, October 1 in the Welcome Center Theater Room. This event is suitable for adults and youth 15 years and older.
