Marshfield Medical Center is hosting a new traveling display banner exhibit from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum titled “Compassion Under Fire: Stories of Combat Medics.”

The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 31 inside the Marshfield Medical Center hospital lobby, 611 N. Saint Joseph Ave. The Compassion Under Fire banner exhibit highlights 15 Wisconsinites who risked their lives to deliver medical treatment to their comrades.

From WWII to recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, these combat medics served their country by tending to their comrades. Oftentimes working in harsh and dangerous conditions, our brave men and women consistently responded with life-saving medical intervention. Marshfield Clinic is the first site to host this exhibit.

“Our veterans answered the call; it is our honor to ensure their service is always seen and remembered,” said Bryan Weichelt, Ph.D., research scientist and past chair of Marshfield Clinic’s Military & Veterans Employee Resource Group. “These exhibits are an opportunity for Marshfield Clinic to recognize our veterans’ service and to educate our patients and visitors of their sacrifices.”
