Foremost Farms Announces the Closure of Marshfield Facility

(Justin Betti, WAOW) Foremost Farms USA announced it will permanently close its facility at 1511 East 4th Street in Marshfield, affecting all 68 employees.

According to Justin Betti with WAOW, the company filed a WARN notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on Aug. 24, stating the closure is expected to occur on or around Dec. 15. The layoffs are expected to be permanent.

Foremost Farms said it is providing at least 60 days' advance notice to all affected employees. If any employee does not receive the full 60 days' notice of their layoff, they will be paid regular wages and benefits in lieu of notice for each day they did not receive the required notice.

The affected employees are represented by Teamsters Local 662. The company said it notified Dan Boley, business agent, as the bargaining representative of the affected employees.

Foremost Farms said it will ensure all employees are paid all earned wages and any agreed-upon benefits through the date of termination. The company also provided notice to the mayor of Marshfield.
