UNION, MFLD DOOR STILL DON'T AGREE
Thursday, April 9th, 2009 -- 12:30 PM
No strike is planned yet, but more than 400 Marshfield DoorSystems employees remain without a new contract after Wednesday negotiations failed.New talks aren?t planned until next week.
The local union voted 401-12 on Monday to deny the company's final offer.
While the company said their proposal was good for employees, the union says the company is trying to take advantage of bad economic times to force them to pay more for medical insurance, require mandatory overtime and accept job shifts.
Union members say, while the overall economy is poor, the last few years have been very good to Marshfield DoorSystems.
Although no notice has been given, 90-percent of the union?s members gave approval to strike if necessary. The company says it has a ?contingency plan,? should that happen.
