Signature Bond Set for Warrens Woman Charged in Fatal Jackson County Crash

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A signature bond is signed for a Warrens woman charged in a fatal Jackson County crash case.

Accoring to WEAU staff, online court records show a $10,000 signature bond is signed for 21-year-old Lacey Georgeson. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2026.

Online court records show Georgeson is charged with 2nd degree reckless homicide - use of a dangerous weapon, homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle, and homicide by use of vehicle with PAC.

According to the criminal complaint, on May 25, 2026, around 10:45 p.m., witness 1 was traveling on I-94 when she came upon the truck and that the victim, 68-year-old Duane Zaugg, was not wearing a seatbelt.

She pulled Zaugg from the vehicle and performed CPR. Zaugg was later pronounced dead. The witness said that a black compact car had passed her on the left shoulder while she was in the left lane, traveling about 80 mph.

A trooper made contact with Georgeson who complained of pain in her left shoulder and left leg and having difficulty breathing. The trooper asked Georgeson where she was coming from.

She said a bar in Tomah where she was hanging out with friends. She said she had too much to drink. While investigating the crash, the speedometer on Georgeson’s car was stuck at 135 mph.

Several witnesses stated they had to move out of the way to avoid a collision with a small, dark colored sedan that was traveling over 90 mph. Georgeson was taken to a hospital for treatment and a blood draw, which showed her blood alcohol content three times over the legal limit.
