In-Home Daycare Worker Sentenced for Child Abuse in Trempealeau County Court

(Katrina Lim, WEAU) An in-home daycare worker convicted of child abuse in Trempealeau County will serve time in prison.

According to Katrina Lim with WEAU, on Monday in court, Ashley Hove was sentenced to 10 years of prison with five years of extended supervision. She’ll receive 480 days of jail credit.

She must also pay more than $15,000 in restitution. Hove was charged with physical abuse of a child, repeated acts with high probability of great bodily harm. In May, she was found guilty because of a no contest plea.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies were contacted by Mayo Clinic in Rochester about a one-year-old flown in by helicopter for a brain bleed. Investigators say the child was hurt while at Hove’s in-home daycare in Eleva.

Hove told authorities she stepped away for a few minutes, then found the child on the floor and believed the child slipped and fell, but the complaint says the child’s mother reported unusual bruising on the toddler and the child’s sibling, and a doctor concluded it was consistent with physical abuse.

The complaint also says Hove later told a deputy she quote “did it twice” and was sorry afterwards.
