Spencer Man Sentenced for Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm

Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 -- 12:01 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Spencer man accused of homicide by delivery of drugs after a woman was found dead in a Wausau home last August had the charge dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Lamont Davis was accused of providing the cocktail of drugs found in the victim’s system at the time of her death. That included fentanyl and cocaine. A search of her phone provided evidence linking her to Davis.

A search of his apartment turned up drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Investigators say the victim was recently evicted from her home and had been staying with three other men in Wausau. Davis knew the woman through social media.

During his recent court appearance, the prosecutor dismissed the 1st-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs. Two other possession charges were dismissed, but read in.

However, a charge of a convicted felon in possession of a firearm was kept and Davis was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, that charge. He was sentenced to four years in prison and four years of extended supervision.
