Final Paving of 17th Street in the City of Marshfield Scheduled for Today
Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 -- 10:00 AM
The City of Marshfield Department of Public Works – Street Division announces that the final paving of 17th Street is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The work will be completed by American Asphalt. On the morning of paving, a tack coat will be applied to the roadway surface. This adhesive material is necessary to help the new layer of asphalt bond properly to the existing pavement.
Residents should be aware that the tack coat is extremely sticky and can adhere to vehicle tires. While it can be removed, it is difficult to wash off. Once paving begins, traffic will not be permitted on 17th Street until the new asphalt has cooled sufficiently for vehicles.
This closure is expected to last no more than 24 hours after paving is completed. Residents are encouraged to notify family members, visitors, delivery services, and anyone planning to travel to their homes during this time. Access to residences will be limited, and the roadway closure will be enforced by American Asphalt during the paving process.
Anyone who will need access to a vehicle during the closure should plan ahead by parking on a nearby side street or at another accessible location before paving begins. The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents while this important roadway improvement project is completed.
