10/13 Project Holding Ground Breaking on New Home Project on Tuesday, August 4th

The 10/13 Project, a faith-driven building initiative, will break ground Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 2108 S Basswood Ave, Marshfield, WI 54449, on a home whose entire sale proceeds will fund eight central Wisconsin nonprofits.

The initiative brings together Christian leaders, businesses and communities along the Highway 10 and Highway 13 corridors. Rather than raise money to fund a building, the group builds one: volunteers and donated labor and materials produce a single-family home, and the full proceeds from its sale go to selected local ministries.

Organizers have set a goal of more than $200,000 for eight beneficiary organizations: Destiny Point, Shirley's House of Hope, Celebrate Recovery, Mary's Place, Hannah Center, His House of Hope, Northwoods Living Hope and Outward Heart.

"Contractors would rather swing a hammer than write a check, and honestly, so would I. This way everybody gives what they have, and at the end there's a house to show for it," said Heath Tappe, Project Manager.

The ceremony begins at 1pm and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and organizers plan a brief worship element. Organizers said they have invited local elected officials, the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry and partner ministry leaders.

Foundation and flatwork are scheduled for September, framing for October and November, and interior finishes for March. An open house is planned for April, with the sale and an impact showcase in June 2027.

"We maintain homes in Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids for women and children who have run out of options. Safe places to live and recover cost money. A build like this is what keeps those doors open." said Kim Bousum, acting executive director of Hannah Center.

The project is seeking skilled labor, donated supplies, contractor discounts and funds for materials. Sponsorships are available at four levels, Bronze, $500; Silver, $1,000; Gold, $5,000; and Platinum, $10,000, with recognition benefits that scale by level.
