Thanks to a Generous Donation, Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library Increasing Their Library of Things

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026 -- 8:01 AM

In January, the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library launched their Library of Things collection by introducing a variety of board games available for check out.

Now, the Library of Things is about to offer a whole lot more. Thanks to a generous donation from the Friends of the Marshfield Public Library (FOMPL), they have been able to revitalize their current collection of equipment, ultimately giving the library an opportunity to incorporate them into the Library of Things and grow this exciting collection.

The Library of Things will expand the boundaries of the traditional library, giving patrons the opportunity to check out not only family-oriented board and yard games, but also sporting equipment, such as snowshoes, a pickleball set, and birdwatching and hiking kits for exploring our local area.

These new additions to the collection will augment equipment they already lend with new items, such as portable Blu-ray and DVD players, a Smart projector, larger portable screens, as well as a radon detecting kit and a watt meter.

These items will help community members share resources by borrowing library materials instead of buying items they may only need for short-term use. This helps everyone save money and reduces waste, having a powerful local environmental impact.

They also have sets of family day passes for both the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum in Stevens Point and the Food and Farm Exploration Center in Plover. The Library of Things allows patrons to check out new experiences. All you need is your library card.
