State legislators will get an earful today about Puppy Mills.Today is the Humane Society?s lobbying day at the Capitol.
The Humane Society's Jill Fritz says her group will talk to lawmakers about puppy mills and animal fighting.
Rep. Jeff Smith of Eau Claire is reportedly preparing legislation that would regulate the dog breeding industry.
Clark County has earned the distinction as the ?puppy mill capital? of Wisconsin by the existence of more than 20 large-scale breeders throughout the county. Largely run by area Amish and Mennonite communities, the mills can house hundreds of dogs in cages and pens until they can be bred and sold at auctions for profit.
