Thorp Student Attends WSMA High School State Honors Project Summer Camp

Thorp student Elliot Cox recently attended the WSMA High School State Honors Project Summer Camp at UW Eau Claire.

Over 400 students gathered there as members of the five Honors ensembles: Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Mixed Choir, and Treble Choir. Elliot performed with the Treble Choir under the direction of Dr. Julie Yu, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Oklahoma City University, and the Artistic Director of Canterbury Voices.

The Treble Choir performed a variety of songs, in several different languages, including performing the American premier of a Korean choral work. The Honors ensembles will reconvene in October and perform a final concert at the Wisconsin State Music Conference in Madison.

Mrs. Corcoran also attended the camp, serving as the Chair of this year's HS State Honors Project and overseeing a staff of music educators who worked as section coaches during the two sessions of camp.

This is Mrs. Corcoran's third year serving on the Administrative Team for the Honors Project.
