City of Marshfield Reminds Residents to Follow the Rules of the Road with the Different Types of E-Bikes

Electric bikes are becoming more common in Marshfield, but not every electric-powered two-wheeled vehicle is legally classified as an e-bike in Wisconsin.

State law recognizes three classes of e-bikes, each with specific speed limits and operating requirements. Electric dirt bikes and other off-highway vehicles are subject to different laws and generally are not permitted on public streets, sidewalks, trails, or parks.

Before you ride, take a moment to understand the differences, follow the rules of the road, wear a helmet, yield to pedestrians, and ride responsibly. Knowing the law helps keep everyone safe while enjoying Marshfield's streets and trails.
