Wisconsin DHS Accidentally Mails Letters to Incorrect Addresses of Some Residents

Thursday, July 2nd, 2026 -- 11:00 AM

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced that some Medicaid members receiving benefits from the state's Supplemental Security Income program had letters with personal and private information regarding an increase in their benefits sent out to their outdated addresses.

After discovering what happened on April 30, 2026, DHS immediately identified the affected individuals and halted all future mailing to the incorrect addresses. On June 30, 2026, notifications were sent to 8,157 Supplemental Security Income members whose information may have been accessed by unauthorized individuals.

These members have been offered free credit monitoring for one year as well as given access to a dedicated call center to answer questions they might have. Members who received a notification letter or have questions about this incident, can call 1-800-362-3002 from 8:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
