CLARK CO. MAY SELL LAND, AFTERALL
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 -- 12:09 PM
The Clark County Board of Supervisors will get another chance to sell land to the City of Owen for a proposed agri-business park. The City of Owen wants to buy over 150 acres of county-owned land surrounding the Health Care Center, but the County Board shot down two land-sales resolutions at their meeting last month.
Meeting last week, the Health Care Center Sub-Committee penned a new resolution that will go before the board during a special meeting on March 31. If approved, it would authorize the sale of 71 acres of land to the City of Owen for a $224,475, or just over $3,100 per acre.
According to past reports, supporters envision a mammoth 52,000 square-foot Innovation Center as the centerpiece of the park. They hope to partner with tech schools and the University of Wisconsin to provide a central hub for researching emerging technologies, such as biofuels, and hope that Center will lure companies to locate in the adjoining parks.
