Carter: "We've been doing a lot, we've been doing a lot of kind of behind the scenes work, but you may have seen this on the news the other day. Our board recently passed a resolution at our June meeting, supporting downtown housing developments, and this was specifically targeted at the City of Marshfield's upcoming uses decisions for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory."

"The resolution was passed based on some residential development success stories and data we received from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and also our partner organization, Main Street America. The resolution basically stated that we're supporting the City of Marshfield, exploring negotiations with the current developer."

"They're looking at Jay Jeffers and Company to turn the Weinbrenner shoe factory into housing. The studies that we looked at showed that it would lead to an increase in consumer spending. We would see a lot more vibrancy downtown, we would see people walking to our downtown businesses."

"Especially Weinbrenner is in a good spot, because it's really close to the grocery store, it's really close to Kwik Trip, and so when we think about our mission to energize and strengthen downtown Marshfield, a key component of that mission is having people living in downtown."

"So, we were eager to support that partnership and the city council did vote to move forward with negotiations with Jay Jeffers Company at their council meeting, and this resolution reflects Main Street Marshfield's efforts to be involved in the broader economic development conversation and desire to support long-term sustainability in downtown Marshfield."

Riley: "So, what's coming up? We've talked about this for a while, but Hub City Days right around the corner."

Carter: "It sure is. Yep, it's coming up July 23rd through July 25th. You may have seen our billboard out on Highway 10 or Highway 29, so we're looking forward to that. We have a lot of great things planned this year. We have our, we have our Brew Fest, you can buy tickets for our Brew Fest, now we have an event on Facebook. We have a lot of awesome vendors coming into play too. I know Children's Wisconsin is going to do some stuff in our family zone, so we're really grateful for their partnership there."

"And I have some exciting news about Hub City Days. We attended the Visit Marshfield Tourism Banquet last week, and Hub City Days received a Best of Marshfield award for Best Festival, so that was, that was really exciting for us. We were honored to receive that. Our team works really hard to put Hub City Days together, so it was nice to receive some recognition."

Riley: "Are you still looking for volunteers for Hub City Days?"

Carter: "We're pretty much full for volunteers at this point. We've got a good crew of people. We have some friends over at Wesley United Methodist Church that decided to come help us and volunteer, so we're grateful for their partnership there."

"We have a lot of friends and family and community members coming out to help support us. So, we got our roster full and I'm looking forward to the big community response it's going to take, but it will be fun."

Riley: "Anything else?"

Carter: "I have an exclusive sneak peek here. Heard it first on the radio, but we are moving forward with a downtown Marshfield Sunday Farmers Market. This is not in place of the Festival Foods Market, but in addition to."

"So, we've been in negotiations with the Marshfield Farmers Market Cooperative and have been trying to get an additional market into Wenzel Family Plaza on Sundays, and at Common Council last night, the council did vote to approve having the market be a city-sanctioned event, which helps us significantly in terms of costs and logistics and so we will be moving forward with that. We are anticipating to have that market open at some point in the middle of July."
