Marathon County Residents Encouraged to Provide Feedback on Proposed Hub City Wind Farm
Friday, June 5th, 2026 -- 8:01 AM
The Alternative Energy Project Local Impact Advisory Committee, established by the Marathon County Board of Supervisors, is inviting Marathon County residents to participate in upcoming public engagement opportunities regarding the proposed Hub City Wind Farm in southwest Marathon County.
Alliant Energy is considering submitting a permit application to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in late 2026 for the Hub City Wind Farm project. This project is anticipated to contain 28-38 turbines throughout the townships of Day, McMillan, Eau Pleine, Cleveland, Green Valley and Brighton in Marathon County.
If approved, construction is projected to begin in 2028-2029. The Committee is seeking broad community input to better understand residents’ priorities, questions, and concerns related to the project’s potential local impacts.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey, available now through June 19, on the Marathon County website at www.marathoncounty.gov/energy. Input gathered through the survey will assist the Marathon County Executive Committee in providing guidance regarding the negotiation and consideration of an agreement between Marathon County and the project developer.
In addition to the survey, residents will have the opportunity to learn about the proposal and provide in‑person comments at a public forum on June 17, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Lake View Conference Center, 1000 Lake View Drive, in Wausau. Attendees may park in Lot E or F and enter through Door 31.
Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
