Freedom 250 Mobile Museum Coming to The Highground Veterans Memorial for Two Days: June 16th & 17th
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026 -- 10:00 AM

The Freedom 250 Mobile Museum will be at The Highground June 16-17 from 10am-5pm.
This 2026 nationwide initiative features several “Freedom Trucks,” 80-foot tractor-trailer interactive museums, separately traveling the U.S. to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
These exhibits, launched in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), offer interactive displays and digital experiences on U.S. history to schools, military bases, and communities.
The mobile museum contains walk-through exhibitions detailing 250 years of American military and civilian history. The exhibits focus on how 13 colonies declared independence, overcame the British Empire and established the United States.
The exhibit aims to encourage, celebrate, and educate citizens about the country’s founding principles. This is an accessible exhibit with immersive exhibits. It includes several digital interactive stations and displays honoring 50 key American trailblazers.
During their visit, guests can also view the “Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces” exhibition in the Welcome Center gallery. This 16-banner exhibit was produced by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
Additional items are on display with historical information honoring Wisconsin’s tribal nations. The exhibit features the personal stories of Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Alaska Native Veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, bringing long overdue recognition to those who have served their country selflessly and with honor for more than 250 years.
The exhibition is sponsored by Potawatomi Casino / Hotel, Lac Courte Oreilles AMVETS Post 1998, Mohican Veterans and United Vietnam Veterans. Both exhibitions are family friendly, and admission is free.
