Gregg Jamison, lead archaeologist for the “UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project: Recovering and Repatriating Fallen American Heroes,” will give a Badger Talks presentation about the fascinating and important work being done to bring missing heroes home decades after they were lost during war.

The talk, part of The Highground’s Community and Military Outreach (CAMO) Program, will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at 6pm in The Highground Theater. The presentation is free and open to the public thanks to support from Badger Talks and grants from the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) and the MDRT Foundation.

The UW MIA Recovery and Identification Project (UW MIA RIP) partners with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to recover, identify and repatriate the remains of MIA American Armed Services Personnel, helping fulfill our Nation’s promise to provide the fullest possible accounting of those who gave their lives in service to our country.

This talk will highlight the project’s history, goals and archaeological approaches to recovery operations in Europe. Attendees can also view The Highground Museum’s current exhibition, “Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces.”

This 16-banner exhibit was produced by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. Additional items are also on display from Veteran Melissa Doud – WDVA tribal liaison, Veteran Bob Loonsfoot, Dennis and Emily Beattie.

The exhibition is supported by Lac Courte Oreilles AMVETS Post 1998, Mohican Veterans and Potawatomi Casino Hotel located in Milwaukee and Carter, Wisconsin. The Highground’s 2026 CAMO program is made possible thanks to grants from the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) and the MDRT Foundation.

Questions about the presentation or the exhibition can be directed to Theresa at [email protected] or by calling 715-743-4224.
