Neillsville City Council Approves Request From Heritage Days Committee

The Neillsville City Council approved a request from the Heritage Days Committee at their meeting on Tuesday.
According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the Council approved the request from the Heritage Days Committee to close Grand Avenue from W. Fifth Street to Division Street on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M for The Grand 5K.
The Council also approved changes to a couple parcels within the City. Finally, the Council approved adding stop signs at W. Seventh and Forest Streets. The Council also heard the various committee reports from the past couple weeks.
Council Member Donna Pavlac reported on the May 13, 2026 meeting of the Heritage Days Committee regarding:
- Financial report;
- Discussion on tent set up;
- Discussion on American Legion event times for poster;
- Discussion on, recommendation and request to the City Council to approve the closing of Grand Avenue from W. Fifth Street to Division Street on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M for The Grand 5K;
- And discussion on and approval of posters.
Mayor Dewey Poeschel reported on the May 18, 2026 meeting of the Board of Review regarding:
- Examination of the City’s 2026 Assessment Roll for errors and omissions and to hear any assessment objections;
- And no property owners appeared in objection to their assessment.
Mayor Poeschel reported on the May 18, 2026 meeting of the Planning Commission regarding:
- Discussion on and approval of changes to CSM #1575, Doc #546484, Vol. #802, Page 640, parcels 261.1434.001 and 261.1434.002.
Mayor Poeschel reported on the May 19, 2026 meeting of the Grants Committee regarding:
- Updates on Ad Hoc Technology Committee contract with The Dirks Group;
- Updates on the Housing loan program;
- Updates on active grant applications and possible new grant opportunities;
- And update on THRIVE grant for “Safe Routes to School” project.
Council Member Bill Neville reported on the May 20, 2026 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee regarding:
- Updates on Spring programs and attendance;
- Updates on Schuster Park South shelter roof repairs, Listeman ballfield work for Summer play, and Cliff’s Park shelter;
- And discussion on and approval for Music in the Park on Wednesdays in June and July from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and to hang a banner on tennis court fence facing Hwy 10 with information.
Council Member Dan Clough reported on the May 26, 2026 meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding:
- Current activities;
- Recommendation of installing stop signs at the intersection of W. Seventh and Forest Streets;
- And payment of bills.
