COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DISCUSSED

Could Clark County?s comprehensive plan be ?resurrected??At their meeting Wednesday night, the Planning and Zoning Committee directed Planning and Zoning Administrator Steve Kunze to explore what steps would need to be followed to bring back the plan, that was voted down in 2006.
The committee plans to seek direction through a resolution to the full county board at their May meeting.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Administration?s website, statute says, by January 1, 2010, if a town, village, city, or county engages in official mapping, subdivision regulation, or zoning, those actions must be consistent with that community's comprehensive plan.
There are many opinions as to what that statute actually means, legally speaking.
In 2006, Rep. Scott Suder told us the statute "clearly" forces municipalities to have a plan by 2010, but is less clear on what the plan must look like.
