Marshfield Common Council Approves Proposal for Police Department Relocation Project

The Marshfield City Council approved a proposal for the Police Department Relocation Project.

The Council heard a presentation from Kraemer Brothers and approved their Guaranteed Maximum Price Proposal for the project. They also approved, with an amendment, the application of the $800,000 Non-State grant the City received toward financing for the Police Department Relocation Project in addition to the planned $10 million borrowing.

The Council also heard an update regarding the final preparation of the 3-year strategic plan, but no action was taken on that item. The Council also approved transferring $50,000 from General Fund contingency for consulting and materials related to preparation of the comprehensive plan.

The Council also approved the second reading of an ordinance relating to the Joint Municipal Court and had the first reading of an ordinance regarding the Campus Master Plan amendment for the Unified School District of Marshfield. The Council also approved an alderman to serve a 2-year term as a non-voting member of Visit Marshfield Board of Directors.

In approving the consent agenda, the Board also approved the ESRI enterprise agreement renewal, an amendment to Task Order 24-04 for Braem Park wet detention basin project, and a conditional use permit for 309 East Blodgett Street. During the Mayor’s comments he mentioned Dairyfest this weekend and third grade visits to City Hall.

During the City Administrator’s comments, he also mentioned the 3rd grade tours, ribbon cutting/grand opening for the new Weinbrenner building, a joint meeting of the Police and Fire Commission and the City Council on a new fire training center, rescheduling of the CIP meetings, an update on the Wenzel Family Plaza bathroom, and thanked Visit Marshfield for stepping up and helping with the summer concerts at Wenzel Plaza.

During the Council comments, one alderman thanked those who helped put up flags for Memorial Day and then helped take them down after. Another mentioned a few aldermen going and talking to the local 8th grade social studies class.

The Council also heard some items from the recent Police and Fire Commission meeting. 86th District Representative John Spiros presented a legislative citation for former mayor Lois TeStrake for her dedication to the City.

Finally, during the public comments portion of the meeting, on resident spoke about the grant for the police department relocation project and the old Weinbrenner building. The Executive Director of Main Street Marshfield provided an update. And the Director of Visit Marshfield provided an update.
