HORSE MANURE STILL HOT TOPIC IN LOYAL
Thursday, March 12th, 2009 -- 12:00 PM
The City of Loyal is still having trouble with horse manure on their city streets. This week?s TRG reports the City Council could come to some decision at their meeting next Tuesday.
The Police Committee will meet Monday night to again discuss the complaints. They could make a recommendation at that time.
Many residents have raised concerns about the aesthetic and sanitary dilemma posed by manure from Amish horses. Last fall, the Council voted to force horses to be equipped with a manure-catching device; that prompted an immediate reaction from the Amish community, who pulled their business out of Loyal.
The ordinance was rescinded and the council seems to be leaning toward a designated route, though officials say all proposals are still on the table.
