Neillsville School Board Approves Items in Preparation for the Next School Year

The Neillsville School Board saw a brief presentation to begin their meeting on Monday.

Representative Karen Hurd presented a plaque to Coach Gaier and the girls’ basketball team in recognition of their 2026 WIAA Division 4 State Championship. During appearances, Jodi Erickson shared her busing concerns with the board.

The Board then approved the building of a deck for Rolaine Griffiths as a project for the 2026-2027 Capstone Project. The Board also approved the 2026-2027 Shared Space Agreement with Clark County Community Services, the 2026-2027 Shared Space Agreement with Children’s Wisconsin, and approved The Standard as the long- and short-term disability provider for 2026-2027.

The Board also approved the 2026-2027 membership in the Association for Equity in Funding, and approved the student insurance renewal with Gallagher for the 2026-2027 school year.

In donations, the Board approved the donation of $894.60 from Atmus Filtration Technologies for elementary playground equipment, approve the donation of Girl Scout cookies from Tricia Bushman, approved the donation of pizza for staff from NextHome Partners, and approved the monetary donation from Gross Motors in the amount of $5,797.46 to the Neillsville-Granton Softball Club.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignation of Robert Randolph from his custodial position, Angela McIntyre from her health office assistant position and job transfer to a teaching assistant position, Rhonda Pernsteiner from her teaching assistant position and job transfer to a hybrid food service assistant position, Donna Enders from her teaching assistant position, and Julia Hederer from her ASL Interpreter position.

The Board approved the hiring of Sara Griepentrog for the elementary teaching position, Mackenzie Person for the middle school teaching position, and Madeline Wahl for the high school English teaching position.

The Board approved the updated letter of appointment for Tasha Hoth, the revised wage schedule for 2026-2027, the revised confidential support staff wages for 2026-2027, and the teacher contract updates. The Board also approved the initial adoption of Policy 3120.08.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • 4K enrollment;
  • PBIS updates;
  • 4th Grade Wisconsin Gallery Walk;
  • Star Lab;
  • Family Fun Night;
  • Step Up Day – May 28th;
  • Needs assessment;
  • Data meeting update;
  • Last day of school;
  • And end of year mailing.

Middle School Principal Jesse Bernhagen reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Friction challenge in Mr. Desmet’s classroom;
  • A suicide and self-harm presentation for students;
  • May kindness challenge;
  • Gift baskets by student council for teacher appreciation week;
  • Choir concert;
  • 8th grade graduation;
  • 5th grade Step Up Day;
  • And field trips.

High School Principal Jennifer Aspenson reported on:

  • Enrollment;
  • Business mentor luncheon;
  • Senior sunset;
  • CVTC junior application workshop;
  • Sophomore mock interviews;
  • Freshmen AODA training;
  • Senior scholarship presentation;
  • And graduation.

The board reviewed the report from Transportation Director Adam Krause on:

  • Driver numbers;
  • State bus inspections;
  • Bus maintenance and body work;
  • Summer school routes;
  • 2026-2027 student transportation forms;
  • And a proposed bus purchase.

The board reviewed the report from Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer on:

  • Upcoming bids in June for football field fencing,
  • Elementary roof replacement and fieldhouse synthetic floor replacement;
  • Van Ert will be working on the layout of new service panels;
  • The new track shed is complete;
  • Investigating the cost for upsizing pool piping;
  • And a staffing update.

District Administrator Corey Peterson reported on:

  • A strategic planning process update;
  • WASB Summer Learning Symposium;
  • Sstate budget update on special education funding and general school aid;
  • And a medical hold that occurred in the district.
