(Katrina Lim, WEAU) A Cadott woman accused of stealing from several local groups, including a Boy Scout troop, was sentenced in Chippewa County Monday.
According to Katrina Lim with WEAU, back in March, 44-year-old Nicole Ruhe was found guilty of theft in a business setting between $5,000 and $10, 000. The other two felony theft charges were dismissed.
According to the criminal complaint, Ruhe was the treasurer for multiple organizations including the Boy Scouts of America Troop 65, the Cadott Basketball Association and the Cadott Community Association.
In interviews, Ruhe admitted to taking and using money between 2021 and 2024 from two of the three organizations and not returning it. Investigators believe she stole more than $4,000 from the Boys Scouts and more than $5,000 from the Cadott Basketball Association. Monday in Chippewa County Court, the judge ordered Ruhe to 60 days of jail with Huber and three years of probation.
She must also pay nearly $10,000 in restitution. She must have no contact with the community organizations, their boards, or past members outside of official capacity as it relates to children’s schooling.
