Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Recognized by Wausau Noon Optimists

Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Wanless was recognized by the Wausau Noon Optimists with their Respect for Law Award.

In addition, Chief Deputy Millhausen presented Deputy Wanless with the Sheriff's Office Deputy of the Year Award. Deputy Wanless began his career with the Sheriff's Office in 2014 as a Corrections Officer, before entering upon his duties as a Deputy Sheriff in 2016.

Since that time, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and a commitment to excellence in everything he does. Deputy Wanless has taken on critical roles that have made a lasting impact on the organization.

He serves as a Field Training Officer, mentoring the next generation of deputies. He is also a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, an Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Instructor, a certified Drug Recognition Expert, and a member of the Forensic Mapping and Reconstruction Unit.

In addition, he is a leader on the Firearms Training Team, these duties further reinforce his dedication to officer safety and preparedness. The Department extends their congratulations to Deputy Wanless who is very deserving of this award.

During the same ceremony, Officer Palmini from the Wausau Police Department and Trooper Hiley from the Wisconsin State Patrol were also recognized.
