Columbus Catholic High School Hosts Mock Crash
Friday, May 15th, 2026 -- 10:01 AM

Columbus Catholic High School hosted a mock crash simulation on Wednesday, May 13, to educate students about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving and encourage safe decision-making behind the wheel.
The educational demonstration brought together local emergency responders and community partners to create a realistic crash scenario for students. During the event, students witnessed the simulated response from law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel, and the Wood County Coroner’s Office.
Ron and Janelle Thomas spoke after the simulation, sharing the personal story of losing their daughter to a drunk driver five years ago. Ron encouraged students to make responsible choices and spoke about the lasting impact impaired driving can have on families.
The mock crash was a combined effort between the Sanford Health Marshfield Clinic Trauma Department team, Columbus Catholic High School, Marshfield Fire and EMS, Marshfield Police Department, Wood County Coroner’s Office, Nieman’s Towing & Recovery, and community volunteers.
Columbus Catholic High School is grateful for the partnership and support of these organizations in providing this important learning experience for students.
