Summer Vets & Ukuleles Program Returns June 18th
Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 -- 1:00 PM
Veterans are invited to sign up for the Summer Vets & Ukuleles program, featuring beginning and continuing ukulele lessons.
Art and music programs are evidence-based tools that help Veterans who are managing PTSD. The “Vets & Ukuleles” classes are a great experience to share with other Veterans.
This program is offered to military Veterans free of charge. We supply the instruments and basic supplies. Lessons start on Thursday, June 18. Classes will meet every Thursday evening for 10 sessions (for the most part).
- Beginning Ukulele: 4:30-5:30pm
- Continuing Ukulele: 6-7pm (for Veterans who have completed the beginner’s course)
- Instructor: Victoria Shoemaker of the band “Virginia Steel” (FB: virginiasteelmusic)
- Class location: The Highground Welcome Center (W7031 Ridge Rd, Neillsville, WI 54456)
Veterans, please sign up early. To register or for more information, please send an email to [email protected] or call Theresa at 715-743-4224. These lessons are free for Veterans because of the generosity of our sponsors. It takes $150 to sponsor a Veteran.
If you would like to help a Veteran participate in this program, please reach out to Theresa. This program is made possible by a grant from the WDVA and our generous sponsors, Lawrence Kizewski, Charlotte Hense, The Vets Run, Mark & Beth Rodwell, The Rusty Nail, Kerry McAllen and William Bishop.
