One Person Arrested After Incident on South Oak Avenue in the City of Marshfield

On May 5, 2026, at approximately 7:39 p.m., the Marshfield Police Department was called to a residence in the 1000 block of South Oak Avenue in the City of Marshfield, Wisconsin, for a report of a male discharging a handgun at a victim.
The male was identified as Brian Velez-Rodriguez, 32, of Marshfield. The victim was not injured and was able to flee the residence with her family. Officers responded to the scene and gave commands for Velez-Rodriguez to exit the residence and surrender. He refused to comply.
The Marshfield Special Response Team and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department Special Response Team responded to assist. Crisis negotiators communicated with Velez-Rodriguez over the course of several hours, but he remained inside the residence.
A search warrant was obtained. On May 6, 2026, at approximately 1:42 a.m.,Velez-Rodriguez eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody. No injuries occurred during the incident and there is no current threat to the public.
Charges of Disorderly Conduct (Domestic), Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Resisting an Officer, and 1st Degree Reckless Endangering Safety (Domestic) will be referred to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for review.
