Wood County Sheriff’s Department Responds to Semi vs. Pickup Crash

Monday, May 4th, 2026 -- 3:00 PM

On May 3rd, at approximately 11:49 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash between a Semi-Tractor Trailer and pickup truck on State Highway 13 near Tower Road.

An initial investigation indicates that the semi tractor was traveling northbound and the pickup truck was traveling southbound on State Highway 13. While traveling southbound the pickup truck crossed the center line, entered into the northbound lane of traffic, and collided with the semi-tractor. The operator of the pickup truck sustained possible life threatening injuries and was transported by Life Link to the Marshfield Medical Center.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Wood County Communication Center, Rome Fire Department, Saratoga First Responders, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, Nekoosa Police Department, Port Edwards Police Department, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Niemans Towing, Wood County Highway Department and Life Link.

This crash remains under investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. A portion of State Highway 13 was shut down for approximately 3 hours.
