City of Marshfield Recognized as a 2025 Tree City USA
Friday, May 1st, 2026 -- 10:00 AM
The City of Marshfield has been recognized as a 2025 Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The recognition honors the City’s ongoing commitment to planting, maintaining, and caring for trees throughout the community. The City has been recognized and honored as a Tree City USA since 1982.
Tree City USA is a national program that recognizes communities that support responsible urban forestry. To receive the designation, a community must meet four standards: maintain a tree board or department, have a community tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and participate in an Arbor Day celebration.
“This recognition reflects the City’s continued commitment to maintaining a healthy and sustainable tree canopy for residents,” said City Forester Mark Ryskiewicz. “Trees are an important part of Marshfield’s neighborhoods, parks, public spaces, and overall quality of life."
"Tree City USA matters because it encourages our municipality to treat trees as critical public infrastructure, improving environmental resilience, public health, and economic value while providing recognition and potential funding advantages.”
Trees provide many benefits to communities, including shade, improved air quality, stormwater management, reduced noise, and support for public health and neighborhood appearance.
The City’s urban forestry work helps preserve these benefits for current and future residents. The Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program has recognized communities across the country for 50 years.
The program is operated in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. More information about the Tree City USA program is available at arborday.org.
