Melrose Man Found Guilty of Homicide After Jury Trial

(Heather Knox, WEAU) A Melrose man was found guilty of homicide after a jury trial in Trempealeau County Court.
According to Heather Knox with WEAU, a news release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, stated on June 18th of 2024, Todd Gieck, of rural Melrose, was arrested on recommended charges of first-degree reckless homicide and others.
The incident happened on May 15 around 8:30 p.m. near Highway 53 and County Road TT in Ettrick. A news release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office on June 4 named 36-year-old Kyle Dahl of Ettrick, Wis., as the victim.
A jury found Gieck guilty of 1st-degree reckless homicide, discharge firearm/vehicle, and convicted out-of-state felon in possession of a firearm. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for August 12th.
