Clean up from Friday's storms continued around the area on Saturday. In the Hatfield area, volunteers and community members were busy cleaning up yards and tree damage along County Highway K. The storm took down several trees with public & private property damage yet to be surveyed. In Blair, The National Weather Service in LaCrosse stated a 6 mile EF1 tornado first touched down around 4:08 pm west-northwest of Blair and tracked east affecting mainly rural areas. The track was a few miles north of Blair with mainly tree damage noted. The tornado ended just before the Trempealeau/Jackson county line on Turri Coulee Road at 4:17 pm. Maximum winds were estimated at around 110 mph. Storm surveying by the National Weather Service staff from LaCrosse, Green Bay and Milwaukee will continue today.
The Marathon County Sheriff's Department stated Saturday afternoon that River Road from County Road J to Abbey Street near Ringle is now open to residents and contractors only. Law enforcement will ask for proof of residency or contractor status before allowing entry. Other areas of the Ringle area remain closed while crews work to restore utilities and make the area safe for re-entry. Crews made great progress on Saturday and are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore utility service. The Sheriif Departments stresses that volunteers do not report to the Ringle area at this time and will provide updates as progress continues and needs change in the area.
