Marathon County Sheriff's Department Recognizes Retirement

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department recognized the retirement of Captain Tim Burkholder who is leaving the Sheriff's Office after 27 years of dedicated service to Marathon County.
Captain Burkholder joined the Marathon County Sheriff's Office in 1999 as a Deputy Sheriff after beginning his law enforcement career with the Milwaukee Police Department he also served in the United States Coast Guard.
Captain Burkholder was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2015, serving in both Patrol and Court Security, and in 2023 he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Throughout his career, he played a key role in developing future leaders and bringing exceptional individuals into our agency as patrol deputies.
Captain Burkholder’s leadership has left a lasting impact on our organization. He will be greatly missed, and the Department extends their sincere gratitude for his service and the warmest wishes as he begins his well-earned retirement.
