Marshfield Police Department Arrested 18-Year-Old After Reports of a Gunshot

On April 9, 2026, at approximately 7:21 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of N. Hume Avenue and E. Fillmore Street in the City of Marshfield for a report of a gunshot.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that an altercation had occurred between two groups of individuals. During the incident, a 16-year-old juvenile male sustained minor injuries and was transported for treatment.

The injuries were not the result of the firearm being discharged. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody for first- degree recklessly endangering safety.

He was transported to the Wood County Jail, and charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney's Office. A juvenile male was also taken into custody for first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Wood County Human Services was contacted in connection with that arrest.

There is no danger to the public. This remains an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Marshfield Police Department. The investigation is ongoing; therefore, no further information will be released at this time.
