Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 -- 3:00 PM
Marshfield’s new Winter Farmers Market is still going strong.
And with summer right around the corner, it will soon be time for the Summer Farmers Market. I spoke with Meliss Haack, the Regional Farmers Market Coordinator with the Wood County Health Department, and she discussed the winter market and the upcoming summer market in more detail.
Listen to the Interview with Meliss here!
Again, make sure to stop by the Winter Farmers Market at the Second Street Community Center in Marshfield, every Saturday from 9am-1pm and it runs through Memorial Day weekend, May 23rd.
The Summer Market then begins the next weekend, Saturday, May 30th in the Festival Foods Parking lot. You can find more information about both markets by heading to the Marshfield Farmers Market Cooperative’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61583011204593.

Meliss: "The Winter Market has been going fantastic. It's been steady, warm, and community focused, with a really loyal group of shoppers each week. So, we're seeing really consistent sales for baked goods, produce, eggs, meat, honey and maple syrup, which is always exactly what we want to see at a farmers market in the winter."
"And there's a lot of regulars and new visitors each week, so really, just doing a really good job at the Winter market. The Marshfield community really responded well and are filling a niche that the community wanted."
Riley: "And now, in case there are some individuals out there who maybe haven't had an opportunity to check it out yet, can you remind them where that is held from week to week and then just how long that's going to run until?"
Meliss: "So, the Winter Market is located at the Second Street Community Center, which is attached to the library in Marshfield. It runs from 9am to 1pm and the Second Street Community Center is really a great space because it's easy to find."
"There's plenty of parking, and there's easy access for people of all ages, and it's got a really warm and inviting space there. So, when you walk in the door, you'll just go straight down the hallway all the way back, and you'll see the winter market kind of set up in this kind of open space that's at the Second Street Community Center."
Riley: "And now, you know, we've talked about the winter one, and even though, with our recent snow storm, it may not seem like it, but spring and summer is just around the corner. And then, of course, the summers farmers market will start up. Can you talk a little bit about that?"
Meliss: "The Summer Farmers Market is going to be fantastic this year. It'll still be held at the Festival Foods parking lot, where it's historically been. The vendor meeting. So, typically, when a farmer's market has its own entity, there'll be a preseason meeting."
"So, there's a vendor preseason meeting scheduled for April 14. The Marshfield Farmers Market is organized as a cooperative, so it'll be their first annual member meeting where they're going to elect officers for their cooperative."
"There's been interim cooperative officers until now, so they'll be like voted in by the membership, which is a really kind of exciting inaugural meeting and the vendor application form is published on their Facebook page."
We're building out a website, so lots of brand new things are really starting to coalesce inform, so look forward to like, lots of vendors, lots of produce, potentially new food trucks, returning food trucks, all kinds of things."
"Because we're we're able to do a lot more organizing on the back end to fill the market up, make sure people know how to get in, make sure we're filling that space and advertising it even more. So, we're all looking really forward to a super successful summer market season as well."
Riley: "Anything else?"
Meliss: "Local food is more important now than ever. I think supporting small businesses when we just don't know what the future will hold for supply chains, for different things like that. I think we should really be supporting our small businesses and making sure that they're thriving because they're right next to our neighbors."
"These are the people that are making our community vibrant. So, attending farmers markets and creating it into a lifestyle routine is really a great thing you can do to feel good about that sense of to create like a deeper sense of place in where you're where you live again."
