Wausau Man Sentenced for Child Abuse

Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 -- 12:01 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man has reached a plea deal for three felony counts related to child abuse.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Chinsia Lee entered a no contest plea for counts of recklessly endangering safety, child abuse, and resisting or obstructing an officer.

He was found guilty and sentenced to seven years in the state prison system, including two years in prison and five years of extended supervision. The 33-year-old was accused of picking a boy up by his hair and threatening him with a knife.

Investigators say Lee had just been kicked out of the family’s home, but he managed to get back in. That’s when he made the threats and demanded money. The child was hospitalized for undisclosed injuries.

In exchange for the plea, a handful of drug-related and trespassing charges were dismissed but read into the record. Lee had been facing up to 18 years in prison on all felony counts combined.

He was given credit for 222 days, or about seven months, already served in jail while awaiting trial. Terms of his sentence also include anger management, nearly $2,000 in restitution and fees to the victim’s family, and court costs.

He will also have a no-contact order with the victim and his family.
