Neillsville School Board Approves Budget Modifications and Other Items at March Meeting

The Neillsville School Board approved some budget modifications at their meeting on Monday.

The Board also approved:

  • The proposal for strategic planning services from CESA 10 in the amount of $14,000;
  • Approved the server replacement from Midwest Routing LLC in the amount of $9,850;
  • Approved the ECCP and Start College Now applications;
  • Approved the CESA 10 contract for the 2026-2027 school year;
  • Approved the Neola Select Agreement;
  • Approved the Bound agreement for athletics;
  • And approved the Professional Services Agreement with Professional Speech Therapists, LLC for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Board also approved several donations including:

  • Boys’ clothing from Gloria Turczyn-Trotta,
  • 4 boxes of cereal from Richard Schleifer,
  • A monetary donation from the Neillsville Booster Club in the amount of $898 for the purchase of the GameChanger app for the 2026 high school softball and baseball season,
  • A monetary donation from the Neillsville Kiwanis Club in the amount of $500 to the music department,
  • A monetary donation from Gross Motors in the amount of $3,017.52 to the Warrior Chess Club,
  • Goodie items from Simplicity Credit Union and Unity Bank for the girls’ state basketball tournament,
  • A monetary donation from Jodi Gross in the amount of $300 for track registration fees,
  • And homemade knitted mittens and hats from Barb Bydalek.

In employment matters the board approved the resignations of:

  • Amber Parsons from her bus driver position,
  • Kate Schumacher from her food service position,
  • And Sydney Chrisler from her elementary teaching position effective May 29th.

The Board also approved the hiring of Bella Opelt for the JV2 volleyball coaching position. The Board approved the Memorandum of Understanding for leave for Julia Backaus. The Board also approved the revised extra-curricular letter of appointment for Kim Rakovec and they approved a long list of policies.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Monthly character trait;
  • Lunch with a loved one;
  • 4K registration;
  • March mammal madness;
  • Read Across America Week;
  • Student council cereal box challenge;
  • Forward Exam and aimsWeb Plus testing;
  • And upcoming events.

Middle School Principal Jesse Bernhagen reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Jodi Stokdyk’s presentation at the Central States Conference for Teachers of Foreign Language;
  • Reality Store field trip in Marshfield;
  • Forward Exam;
  • And 2026-27 course registration.

High School Principal Jennifer Aspenson reported on:

  • Enrollment;
  • ACT test;
  • Academic Letter Award Ceremony;
  • Band and choir trip to Florida;
  • And an FFA update.

Transportation Director Adam Krause reported on:

  • Driver status;
  • Bus garage cleaning;
  • Pricing on new buses;
  • Bus driver pay comparables;
  • The new bus maintenance process;
  • And body work needed on fleet.

Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer reported on a list of repair and maintenance projects for planning purposes

District Administrator Corey Peterson reported on:

  • Thank you notes;
  • Bus driver appreciation;
  • Neola policies;
  • Narcan training provided to staff;
  • And state girls’ basketball results.
