The Marathon County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team was recognized by the Association of SWAT Professionals - Wisconsin as one of the SWAT teams of the Year.
This is the second year in a row that the Marathon County SWAT team has been presented with this honor. This award is presented to a team to recognize the team's perseverance, professional tactics, teamwork, communication and coordination during a tactical event.
Along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office TRU, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office TRU, and the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office TRU, our SWAT team assisted in a hostage rescue involving two children at a home in Antigo in June 2023.
Members of these teams not only utilized their tactical expertise but also demonstrated an exceptional level of collaboration and coordination between agencies. Their combined efforts ensured the safe extrication of the children and the safe arrest of the suspect.
