Farmers Encourages to Participate in Survey Estimating Fair Rates for Common Ag Services
Friday, March 27th, 2026 -- 8:01 AM
(Blake Jackson, Wisconsin Ag Connection) Farmers and custom operators across Wisconsin are being invited to take part in a survey aimed at estimating fair rates for common agricultural services.
According to Blake Jackson with the Wisconsin Ag Connection, custom work plays a vital role in modern farming but setting accurate and competitive pricing can often be difficult.
This survey is designed to address that challenge by gathering real-world data from those directly involved in these operations. The collected responses will be used to create a concise report outlining typical custom rates across the state.
These insights are intended to help both service providers and farmers make more informed decisions when hiring or offering custom work. Participants who either performed or hired custom services in 2025 are encouraged to complete the online survey.
It includes sections covering a wide range of operations such as tillage, planting and seeding, fertilizer and chemical application, manure handling, grain harvesting and hauling, drying, as well as silage, haylage and hay services.
The survey also gathers information on tractor and machinery rental rates. For additional details or assistance, participants can reach out to Paul Mitchell at [email protected] or (608) 320-1162 or Brian Luck at [email protected] or (608) 890-1861.
