Wausau Man Sentenced for Child Enticement and Child Sexual Assault

Wednesday, March 25th, 2026 -- 1:01 PM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man was sentenced to nine years in the state prison system after pleading no contest to child enticement and second-degree child sexual assault.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Jason Olerich was sentenced on Tuesday, closing a case that’s been in progress for nearly five years. His sentence includes four years in prison and five years of extended supervision.

Olerich was accused of trying to meet an underage girl for sex back in early 2021. Police made contact with the 43-year-old through a messenger app, posing as an underage girl.

The conversation turned sexual, and Olerich attempted to get them to meet up for a night of drugs and sex. The two arranged for a meeting in Rothschild, where he was arrested. Officers seized items, including drugs, condoms, and drug paraphernalia, from his vehicle.

Olerich was originally bound over for trial in May of 2021. The case has remained in progress since then, with the latest trial attempt scheduled for January 27th and 28th, 2026.

Terms of his sentence also include a full no-contact order with anyone under the age of 18 unless supervised by someone 25 or older. He may have contact with his own children if approved by his agent. He will also spend the rest of his life on the state’s sex offender registry.
