(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A man arrested after getting into a fight with police when being questioned about an incident at a gas station appeared in Jackson County Court on Monday.
According to WEAU Staff, back in October of last year, Fairchild Police were called to the Cenex C-Store on U.S. Highway 12 for reports of a man threatening people with a knife.
Troy Lee Perkins, of Humbird, was identified as the suspect in a video showing a man pulling a knife from his waist icepick grip, displaying it to the store clerk. Perkins was pulled over not too long after.
While police were questioning Perkins, police said he got hostile and kept asserting he had constitutional and federal rights, while also telling police they did not have the right to pull him over because he was traveling.
Perkins also made the claim of there being no credible witnesses to what he was being accused of. Perkins was still arrested on probable cause. Police said Perkins began to resist arrest, which led them to use pepper spray and some level of physical force.
Police were able to take Perkins into custody after EMS was called to check on Perkins at his request. He was arrested and booked in the Eau Claire County Jail.
During his initial appearance on Monday, he entered a not guilty plea to the charge against him, which is disorderly conduct - use of a dangerous weapon. He’s scheduled to be back in court on April 8th.
