Authorities Release Name of Individual Killed in Pedestrian vs Vehicle Crash in Jackson County

(WEAU Staff, WEAU) Authorities are naming the victim in a fatal pedestrian vs. vehicle crash in Jackson County, according to WEAU staff.
According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, on March 9, 2026, at about 7:59 p.m., a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office came upon a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on State Highway 54 between Red Iron Road and Mission Road in the Town of Brockway.
The press release says on scene, a deputy recognized that the pedestrian was not breathing. The deputy then called for an ambulance and began providing life-saving efforts with CPR. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.
The pedestrian was identified as 34-year-old Jordan Funmaker of Black River Falls. According to the press release, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
It was reported that the pedestrian was walking in the lane of traffic while wearing dark clothing. This incident is under investigation.
