Clark County Sheriff's Department Releases Information on Sex Offender Release: Joseph Kropp

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection.

The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense. Joseph J. Kropp had previously served his sentence for possession of child pornography and was released from custody on March 10, 2026.

He will be residing homeless within Clark County. This information is being provided to make sure the public is aware of the location of Kropp’s residence in the community. Kropp served a sentence for sexual assault of prepubescent females.

His previous convictions include sexual assault of three prepubescent children. Kropp will be supervised by agents specializing in intensive supervision. He is to have no unsupervised contact with minors, no contact with victims and not to consume drugs.

He is to comply with the standard sex offender rules, cooperate with electronic monitoring, and is to comply with requirements and lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.

This sex offender has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. He is NOT wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.

Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community.
