The Marshfield Common Council approved a couple budget resolutions at their meeting on Tuesday.

The Council approved changes to the plan for phasing Braem Park improvement projects and approved recruitment costs related to refilling the vacant position of Assistant City Engineer, which will come to $20,000.

The Council also had the first reading of an ordinance amending Marshfield Municipal Code Section 9-32 (General Conditions and Restrictions) and Section 9-56 (Mobile Food Vendors). This was just the first reading, so no further action was taken, but it will be brought back to the next meeting for a 2nd reading and approval.

The Council also reviewed the audit of Tax Incremental District #13 and it was accepted and placed on file. In approving the consent agenda, the Council also approved the Memorandum of Understanding with Wood County Clerk for election equipment purchase, the revised Policy No. 4.800 (Procurement), which was approved with a 6 month check in, the purchase of a bypass pump for Wastewater), and a bid for Braem Park wet detention basin project.

The Council also heard several presentations including from Jeffers Company on the redevelopment of the Weinbrenner facility located at 305 West 3rd Street, which the Council then discussed at the end of their meeting regarding next steps.

The Council also heard a presentation regarding the update on the status of 2025 and 2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects and request for input related to the 2027-2031 CIP.

The next presentation was an update on the Marshfield Broadcasting/Marshfield Community Radio WIBR and it was stated that the project will not be moving forward and any donations will be returned.

During Mayor’s comments, she read a proclamation recognizing the Marshfield Senior High Ocean Bowl Team. During the City Administrator’s comments, he discussed the next Strategic Planning Meeting, the Downtown Town Hall held Tuesday regarding snow removal downtown, the Bream Park tree project, and dissemination of information by the Communications Department.

During staff updates, the Communications Department discussed their ongoing communications coordination effort and Marshfield is again recognized as a Tree City.

Finally, during the public comment portion of the meeting, a resident commented on the Weinbrenner facility and taxes; another commented on issues with people racing down Highway 10 on the south side of Marshfield; the Executive Director of Main Street Marshfield discussed their Welcome Back and Building Revitalization grants; and a MACCI representative discussed the Town Hall regarding snow removal downtown.
